Don't be fooled by big food

The Parents’ Voice is a not-for-profit online network of parents, grandparents and guardians, who are interested in improving the food and physical activity environments of Australian children.

This Bupa Parenting Insights talk is given by Alice Pryor, Campaign Manager from Parents' Voice. Alice's talk includes information about:

  • The health star rating - what it is and what to look for in the supermarket
  • Food Detectives - an initiative in collaboration with a nutritionist where they expose the truth behind popular children's foods and the real ingredients they contain
  • The Food Switch app from Bupa - what it is and how to use it in the supermarket
  • Their annual awards ceremony - where they fame and shame brands to raise awareness of the marketing techniques that the food industry uses to promote unhealthy food and drinks to children.

Parents' Voice is an initiative developed with numerous government health organisations. They discuss the latest tips for new parents, which will help them see through the marketing hype on kids processed foods.
